Position Summary
The Technical Project Manager will lead complex, data-focused projects within the cryptocurrency, blockchain, and digital asset ecosystem. This role manages cross-functional technical initiatives—including blockchain integrations, analytics platforms, compliance tooling, trading systems, and data pipelines—while ensuring delivery excellence in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. The ideal candidate combines strong technical project management expertise with a deep understanding of crypto markets, blockchain technologies, and analytics frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Execution
- Oversee full lifecycle delivery of crypto-related technical projects using PMP or Agile methodologies.
- Build and maintain detailed project plans, sprint structures, roadmaps, and risk logs.
- Coordinate work across engineering, data science, product, security, and compliance teams.
- Ensure all deliverables meet quality, scalability, and security requirements.
Blockchain & Crypto Technical Oversight
- Translate blockchain concepts and crypto use cases into technical requirements.
- Support integrations with public chains (e.g., Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana), custody providers, wallets, smart contracts, node infrastructure, and exchange APIs.
- Oversee technical design, architecture reviews, and development workflows for blockchain-based features.
- Manage testing cycles including smart contract audits, integration testing, and data validation.
Analytics, Data, & Insights
- Partner with analytics teams to deliver dashboards, trading metrics, risk modeling, token performance analysis, and blockchain data pipelines.
- Work with data engineering to ensure high-quality ingestion of chain data, market data, order flow, and customer activity.
- Use analytics insights to guide project strategy, product enhancements, and risk mitigation.
Crypto Compliance & Risk
- Support projects related to regulatory reporting, transaction monitoring, AML/KYC analytics, and on-chain compliance.
- Ensure technology adheres to evolving crypto regulatory expectations (SEC, CFTC, FinCEN, OFAC).
- Coordinate with legal teams on chain analysis tools, fraud detection solutions, and incident response.
Stakeholder Management & Communication
- Serve as a bridge between engineering teams, business teams, quant analysts, compliance, and leadership.
- Communicate project status, risks, budgets, and technical challenges in a clear, concise way.
- Manage vendors including smart contract auditors, blockchain analytics partners, and infrastructure providers.
Risk Management & Delivery Governance
- Identify risks specific to blockchain systems (e.g., gas costs, chain congestion, protocol changes, security vulnerabilities).
- Define mitigation strategies and coordinate cross-team responses.
- Ensure projects maintain transparency, traceability, and strong documentation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, or related field.
- PMP certification preferred; Agile/Scrum certification a plus.
- 4–8+ years experience managing technical projects, including at least 2 years in crypto, blockchain, fintech, or digital asset environments.
- Strong understanding of blockchain fundamentals, distributed systems, smart contracts, and crypto trading concepts.
- Experience working with analytics tools (SQL, Python, Tableau, Dune, Nansen, or similar).
- Familiarity with crypto compliance, on-chain analytics, and regulatory risk.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and technical documentation skills.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with:
- On-chain analytics tools (Dune, Chainalysis, Messari, Nansen)
- Smart contract development or auditing workflows
- Exchange, OTC, DeFi, or custody platforms
- Building blockchain-data ETL pipelines
- Zero-knowledge proofs, L1/L2 protocols, or cross-chain bridges
- Crypto incident and risk management
- Strong understanding of DeFi, NFTs, stablecoins, tokenomics, and governance models.
- Lean Six Sigma or process-improvement background is a plus.
- Experience with both Waterfall and Agile delivery models.
